Common questions

Why is there a paid tier if Clipps is free forever?

Because someone has to pay for AI calls. If you bring your own key, that's you and Clipps charges nothing. If you don't, the 50 daily credits run on Clipps's AI bill, and Pro subscribers help keep that tier funded. Pro is optional. Always.

Will Clipps still be free a year from now?

The bring your own key path will always be free, no asterisks. The 50 credits a day tier depends on enough Pro and credit pack revenue to keep covering the AI bill. If those go away, the free credits would shrink before the BYO key path ever did.

What happens when I run out of credits?

Free users wait until the next morning's reset, add their own AI key (truly free path), buy a credit pack, or upgrade to Pro. Pro users see the same options minus the upgrade.

Which AI providers can I bring a key for?

Gemini, OpenAI, Claude, xAI, and DeepSeek today. Local models via Ollama coming. Configure in Settings → AI Preferences.

How do I cancel Pro?

From Settings in the web app, anytime. Your account stays active through the end of the billing period.

Why can't I subscribe inside the iOS or Android app?

Apple and Google both take 30% on purchases made inside an app. Buying through the web means we pass that savings back to you.
